Help Fix my Classroom Library!

My students need book boxes and the start of a leveled reader library to better access the classroom library. Please help build my library, students want to read!

My Students

Read quietly? But why do we have to do that? Is a typical answer from my students. My goal is to be able to reorganize my library so the students can see the level they should be choosing and want to read! Please help add to my library!

My students are struggling learners.

I am a special education teacher and my students just do not want to read because they do not exactly know what level they should be reading. I want to redo my classroom library so my students can see what boxes they should be choosing out of, to further their reading abilities. They all struggle with doing anything independent, so making things more accessible to them and getting new books will help them access what they need to get better.

My Project

The book bins will be clearly labeled with the level as well as the type of titles. The students will know which boxes they can choose out of. The leveled readers will help most of my students work on getting their DRA (which is a reading assessment) score up. My students do not like to read because I do not have a lot of books on their level. They need new books on their level as well as an easier way to find the books I have to access them. Being able to read on their own levels will help them build their abilities to pass the DRA.

It will make it easier for my students to choose appropriate books and therefore make them want to read.

It will also help raise my students' DRA scores with books more appropriate at their levels. I hope it will make reading more fun for them! With your help you can make a true difference in my classroom!
