Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is situated in the heart of the city and our scholars come from very diverse backgrounds. Fortunately, for all of the challenges our scholars face, they are the proud members of a wonderful and nurturing school community which prides itself in developing the whole child. To this end we believe in going beyond pure academics. We work to develop the student's love of learning, belief in themselves, building on their strengths, fostering new interests and offering support to their extended family.
The scholars are given opportunities to stretch and grow in a safe and supportive environment by a staff who cares deeply about their success.
My Project
We have a huge dilemma. In March, when our school community was hit by the full ramifications of the pandemic, we emptied our computer carts in order to provide all of our students a device to carryout remote learning. Now, as we begin a new school year with our blended program we need to use technology to carryout this tremendous task.
Our community school is situated in one of the worst hit by this pandemic in NYC.
Our scholars deserve every opportunity offered others. Yet, many of their families are struggling daily to meet the basic needs of our children.
By insuring that they have technology in the classroom, we can bridge the two learning environments they will be working within. This will allow us to capture and share their work between their multiple teachers, give them timely feedback and build a better continuum in their academic progress.
