My Students

My students in rural Bridgeville, CA are some of the most hopeful and optimistic children. Each day they surprise me with their curiosity and imagination. They are eager little learners and demonstrate compassion for friends and classmates by developing social-emotional growth daily.

Although we have a wide range of ages (4-7) in a combination class, each student plays a role in contributing to a healthy and symbiotic classroom environment.

For example, the older students are amazing when put in the role of a big buddy. The younger students appreciate the help they receive. This helps build a strong classroom community where each student feels as though they belong. As always, my class makes me want to be a better teacher and do as much as I can to engage their learning.

My Project

Hand-held manipulatives are guaranteed to actively engage students. Without them, lessons can fall flat and key concepts can be missed. This is why it's so important to create engaging, sensory experiences and build meaningful lessons.

With your donation, my students will be able to use more than just one sense when learning about mathematics and crucial concepts in first grade.

These tools from hand2mind will impact my students and nurture their mathematical minds in various ways. The materials chosen are specific to introducing key vocabulary, building skills, and engaging in newly learned concepts: all of which will prepare them for 2nd grade.
