I picked books that will help foster social-emotional growth, life skills, animals around the world, relationships and cultures, and biographies. Our classroom has a small library, but because we live in such a remote area of California, we don't have the same updated resources as city schools. My TK-2 students deserve access to updated and modern children's books in our classroom environment. The internet is a great resource, but there is nothing that can compare to the physical aspects and magic of a hardcover book at circle time. The items I chose will introduce various topics and units throughout our school year. We always refer to our literature through our writing, social-emotional conflict resolutions, and classroom management. These books will aid my students by exploring the pleasure of reading as well as expanding their minds to the beautiful world around us, unplugged.
