Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Each day students enter their space respectfully and begin their daily work. We would like to provide students the tools to be engaged in a more active learning environment, so let's move!

My school is part of a large school system and is located in the heart of a predominantly Hispanic community.

One hundred percent of my students and student-athletes qualify for the free and reduced lunch program. My students are eager learners and are very interested in bettering their skills. In my classroom and on the court, students feel they are in a place where they feel safe and free from criticism. It is a place where they can ask questions and learn important elements about their development.

My Project

Given the millions of dollars being cut from schools in Oklahoma, several programs are suffering. Funding for athletic programs has been drastically reduced. At our school, we have not been able to order new volleyball uniforms for five years. We were finally able to order new uniforms this year! Unfortunately there was not enough money to order both uniform tops and bottoms. This Donors Choose project is for Nike volleyball shorts to complete our new uniforms.

My student-athletes are incredibly excited to play in new uniforms!
