Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

A noisy classroom is a busy and active classroom, but not all children do well in that environment. Some students find it hard to focus with too much noise around them, even when the noise level is low. Noise can make some children feel uncomfortable and make it hard for them to concentrate. I am asking for a pair of quality noise-canceling headphones to be used as part of our classroom self-regulation or “cool down” kit. This will be helpful for several of my incoming students that are triggered by noise, especially during exceedingly long ELA and Math instruction blocks.

Noise-canceling headphones are a huge part of learning to regulate emotions for students who are triggered by excessive noise.

They can muffle sounds and help prevent students from getting distracted or overwhelmed by happenings in the classroom. Limiting the distractions around them can help reduce anxiety and frustration in many students, making the classroom environment a more pleasant place and more conducive to learning. When these students become dysregulated, they will have the opportunity to practice self-regulation with these headphones, as well as the fidget spinners, stress relievers, and other sensory objects that are part of our existing classroom cool down kit.
