Help Build Our STEM Skills: Building Toys for Kindergarten
My students need building toys, including interlocking discs, magnetic tiles, Legos and marble run sets, so they can explore and practice their STEM skills.
Students in my kindergarten classroom come to school excited about learning. Most of my students come from low-income families, and all the students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch. This background can mean that students’ families cannot afford to purchase needed school supplies.
My students deserve to receive the best education possible so that they are able to succeed in school and in life.
These boys and girls have such awesome attitudes, and they try their best every day!
My Project
My kindergarten students love to learn through play. Each day, we have a time reserved for creative play and students choose what toys they would like to play with, during this time. They especially love toys that allow them to use their imagination and allow them to build items. These types of toys are awesome because they introduce students to beginning STEM principles.
I am requesting various STEM building toys, including interlocking disks, magnetic tiles, Legos and marble run sets, so they can be introduced to the idea of using math and engineering to create an item.
The students will love using the interlocking discs, magnetic tiles and Legos to create buildings and shapes. The marble run sets are especially interesting, since they allow students to create a course for a marble to roll through. These toys will also help students develop their communication and collaboration skills, as they work together to create an item. Both the boys and the girls in my classroom will be highly motivated to use their STEM skills, due to the exciting nature of these toys.
