Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come in every day eager to learn. Their families are oftentimes facing hardships; yet, the students come to school ready to do their best. I teach at a Title I school in South Carolina, and many of our students receive free breakfast and lunch due to their family's income. My students are often times in need of supplies that will help them succeed.
My students are resilient and strong!
Despite their hardships, they are always ready to learn and eager to be at school each day.
My Project
I have asked for chips, cookies, gummies, and crackers to help my students fight off hunger throughout the day. I have also asked for a bit of candy as a special treat. Many students come in hungry. They may not have enough to eat at home or they simply need a snack before lunch.
They have a difficult time staying focused on work if they are fighting hunger.
Having one of the delicious snacks will help students feel satisfied and be more successful. They will be able to think about what they are learning and why it is important instead. These snacks will allow students to focus on their assignments. Once they have a nutritious snack, they will be able to put their best for forward and have a successful day!
