Hello! My name is Christina and I teach 7th grade!
Help me give my students items that will start off the year right in August. The most expensive items, such as the rolling laptop desk, can help me be able to teach on-the-go and answer more questions.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I am going into my 7th year of teaching in August and I am currently teaching 7th grade. I have taught in low-income, urban districts my entire teaching career and have spent thousands of dollars of my own money, which I honestly cannot spare to do any longer due to expanding my family, and these items will help me more than you can imagine for next school year.
Basic needs are pencils, folders for students to keep in my room with their note-sheets, highlighters, and markers for the whiteboard.
Many times my students come to school without any supplies and rely on us to give them to them, which I personally cannot afford at this time.
I also want to do hands-on projects with my students for our Ancient Civilizations class such as creating air-dry clay cuneiform stone-tablets when learning about Mesopotamia. The rolling standing desk can help me move around with my laptop while staying connected to the board while I am trying to teach hands-on, something I have struggled with this year as the connection to my HDMI is in an awkward location.
As for the headphone classroom set, my students learned so well with the set I had spent out of pocket for this year, but unfortunately they were cheaply made and broke quickly - they enjoy the peace and opportunity to watch videos on their Chromebooks that deal with ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, China, Greece, and Rome as well as CNN 10.
I also want to help both myself and students by covering the fluorescent lights that have given myself and student migraines all year and move to more flexible light options.
