Heavy Metal: Tuba Mouthpieces That Rock!

My Project

For this project, we would like to purchase tuba mouthpieces so that we can get more instruments into the hands of more students. More mouthpieces mean that they can participate in our music classes by providing the foundation of wind band sound.

We have a number of students who want to switch to tuba to help with our band instrumentation, but we need the mouthpieces to go with each tuba.

A couple of current older tuba students have been using their own personal mouthpieces and a few tubas had no mouthpieces in their cases. Upon further inquiry with the students, they told me that they would use the same mouthpiece for tuba and sousaphone since they played both. Also, there was no separate mouthpiece for each instrument. With more students switching to tuba, we need more mouthpieces.

A band with a solid tuba section sounds so much better than a band without any tuba players. The students who are willing to switch to tuba understand how important it is and how much better a band can sound with the foundation a tuba section provides.
