This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are curious, passionate, and eager to explore the world around them. As a high school science teacher, I strive to bring concepts in Environmental Science and Biology to life with engaging, hands-on experiences. To do that, we need the right tools.
In Environmental Science, students investigate energy flow, ecosystems, and climate change.
We want to measure surface temperatures using infrared (IR) thermometers and heat guns for experiments on passive solar design, albedo effect, and thermal insulation. To simulate real-world scenarios, hot plates will allow us to study heat transfer in various materials safely and consistently.
In Biology, students will use microscopes to dive into the microscopic world—from analyzing pond water to studying cellular structures. Biology goggles will help keep students safe during dissections and lab work involving chemicals or heating elements.
These tools will transform our science classroom into a place of discovery and experimentation. With your support, my students will gain confidence and critical thinking skills while engaging in meaningful scientific exploration. Every item listed contributes directly to a lab-based, student-centered experience.
Many of my students learn best by doing. With these tools, we can go beyond the textbook and into real inquiry—measuring, observing, testing, and discovering. These are the moments when science becomes meaningful, and students start to see themselves as scientists. Your donation will directly impact our ability to offer rigorous, engaging labs aligned with NGSS and real-world applications.
