My students need a laptop to research the homeless and create videos to promote a bottled water drive to help the homeless get through the hot summers in Las Vegas
This project expired on September 28, 2012.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Passion at a Pause! My students have a passion for the homeless and would like to host a bottle water drive to help out one of our local shelters. Through research and videos they are able to promote this event through out the school. The only problem is they don't have a computer with a camera.
My third, fourth and fifth grade students are passionate, caring and dedicated to making a difference in our city.
Our school is located in Las Vegas, NV and the summers are unbearable, especially if you are homeless and living on the streets where the coolest temperature in the evening is sometimes 85 degrees. By teaming up with one of the local shelters they can help get clothing and bottled water to the homeless in our city.
Students will research the homeless, create graphs, and learn technology skills needed to be successful for the future. It will develop their organizational skills and challenge them creatively. Through this research, their perceptions and thinking will be challenged and changed. This will give my students an opportunity to learn social responsibility, and it will open their hearts.
In my County alone there are over 15,000 homeless people, and seven thousand children who are homeless that are registered in our school district.
So many times all kids can think about is themselves and this resource will help my students to learn to think of others and to develop a love for giving. It will also provide them with valuable tools to develop skills that they will need in the future. Most importantly, through this project, it will help us to make a difference in our community.
