Students use the hydroponic system every day to check on our plants, notice changes, and talk about what they need to grow. We're not only observing the full plant life cycle, but we're also growing a special Mother's Day gift, which has made the learning even more meaningful. Students have really taken ownership—reminding each other to check water levels and celebrating every bit of growth. \r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the reactions were priceless. Students were amazed that we could grow plants right in our classroom without soil. There were so many curious questions and lots of excitement as we set everything up together. It was one of those moments where everyone wanted to be involved and see what would happen next.\r\nThe vacuum helped us keep our space clean and organized, which makes it easier for us to stay focused and ready to learn. Students are excited to help staple our take-home CVC books. They eagerly took ownership of their learning.\r\n\r\nThis has become a meaningful, ongoing project that keeps them engaged and curious, and it wouldn't be possible without your support. Because of you, my students now have access to meaningful resources that are already making a difference in their daily learning and growth.\r\n\r\nWe have been using these materials to support both academic learning and social-emotional development. For example, during our small group time, students are using the new resources to practice communication, take turns, and stay engaged in structured activities. One moment that stood out was when a student who typically struggles to participate independently was able to remain engaged and complete a task with minimal prompting. It was a big win, and it would not have been possible without these tools.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate. Many of them were eager to explore, and even students who are usually hesitant showed curiosity and interest. For some of my students, especially those with communication and sensory needs, these resources provide a way to access learning in a way that feels safe and motivating.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will continue to incorporate these materials into our daily routines and lessons. Our next steps include using them to build independence, strengthen communication skills, and increase engagement during academic tasks. We are also working on expanding group participation and helping students apply these skills across different settings in the classroom.\r\n\r\nYour support has created opportunities for my students to grow, connect, and succeed. These resources have allowed us to create a more interactive and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and practicing a new language.\r\n\r\nOne of the most impactful outcomes has been the noticeable increase in student participation. With access to hands-on and culturally responsive materials, our ELL students are more eager to engage, collaborate, and express themselves. Through our read-alouds, restorative circles, and hands-on art and play, students are practicing how to calm their bodies, use positive self-talk, and work through emotions together. We've created affirmation rocks, built self-regulation toolkits, and used rhythm and drawing activities to help students slow down, focus, and connect with one another. These moments have become powerful opportunities for students to express feelings they don't always have the words for.\r\n\r\nOne of the most meaningful parts of this experience has been seeing how naturally students engage when art is combined with social-emotional learning. It transforms self-regulation into something fun, approachable, and meaningful. Instead of feeling like a difficult skill, students are excited to participate and practice. Through activities like \"Follow the Rhythm\" and creative art expression, students are learning how to pause, reflect, and manage their emotions in a way that feels natural and accessible. Students who once struggled with big emotions are now independently using these strategies—taking a breath, using affirmations, and choosing to reset before reacting. This approach not only supports emotional growth, but makes learning these skills feel easy and empowering for students.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, my students are developing skills that will support them far beyond the classroom. As they learn to regulate their emotions, we are seeing positive changes in behavior, increased engagement, and a stronger sense of belonging at school. When students feel safe and in control, they are more ready to learn and more likely to show up each day ready to succeed.
