Every year I focus on enriching my students' understanding of the world through text. Out of My Mind is that type of novel! Not only will this novel broaden their vocabulary content and comprehension strategies, but it will teach my students about human kindness in the world, particularly schools. Students will read assigned chapters at home, and come to class prepared to conduct a book study to allow question/discussion amongst peers. In the end, students will create a game board to play with peers based solely on the novel. Out of My Mind is an inspirational read that will leave the kids thinking. My Gifted and Talented Students (GATE) are avid readers and love to read books they can relate to. Students at my classroom are not only creative, but compassionate and inquisitive.
