My Project

The majority of my students are highly interested in pursuing a career in the health field. Human Anatomy & Physiology is a very difficult class in college and being able to experience much of the material while in high school, will be so helpful for these students. My goal is to give them as many hands-on, real-world activities as possible. These dissection materials will enable me to explain difficult vocabulary and concepts with visual aids and enable the students to study individually or in small groups, while discovering many of the structures on a real organ.

Students always retain and master material better when they have a hands-on manipulative or visual aid to guide them.

There is no other way, at the high school level, for the students to be able to actually "see" what the structures of the human body look like on the inside. The structure of the sheep heart and sheep brain are surprisingly similar to the human heart and human brain.

Your donation to this project will touch the lives of at least 200 students. Not only are the dissection materials giving the students an opportunity to visualize the inside of their own body, they are increasing motivation, interest, and retention of difficult curriculum.

Mrs. Shaun Martins will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by September 2.
