This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher/coach in a low-income/high-poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Our school district is trying to grow our girls' sports programs. I coach field hockey at our middle school. My girls are new to the sport and do not have the resources to buy quality equipment. Most equipment is donated from sports teams around the area.
Most athletes pick up a stick for the first time in 7th grade.
These girls love to compete and love learning the game of field hockey. They are very athletic and deserve to be on the same playing field as their opponents. They come to practice every day and work extremely hard. With the uniforms, there's no telling how far they can succeed.
My Project
This donation will provide my students with an opportunity to build character, integrity, and commitment outside of the classroom. Our girls come to practice and work extremely hard.
We are trying to grow our girls’ sports program and field hockey could be a great avenue for our girls to continue their education into college.
With uniforms and captain bands, my athletes will learn the fundamentals of field hockey. The uniforms are necessary to build a foundation of field hockey that has the potential to evolve into a school-wide program for all skill levels and grades. Students will be able to learn the game of field hockey. This will positively impact the lives and friendships of my athletes. They will be unified and feel confident when on the field.
