Hearing Voices No One Else Can Hear Isn't Always a Bad Sign

My students need 100 HP CDRs, a wireless listening center, 2 extra wireless headphones, and a CD & Cassette Player.

My Students

Excite a child with the powerful voice of listening to a spoken character! Reading words on a page has never been the same since I introduced audiobooks to my students. They were taken away by the character's powerful voice.

I teach a wonderful group of 4th graders at a Title I school which has a large number of students who receive free or reduced lunch.

Although my students are young in age, they are wise in knowledge. My students care about one another and are always looking for ways that they can support those in the classroom as well as the community. Each student is unique and fun to be around. My students especially love to know that others care about them and want them to succeed, which is why the constantly support their classmates as they are working towards their academic goals. My classroom is definitely one that values community learning and my students display that each day with the respect they show toward one another.

My Project

Just the thought of a listening center in our classroom brings great joy of the many ways it will impact my students. For one my students who read below grade level will still have the same opportunity to read and listen to audiobooks that their classmates read. The listening center will also assist my students who are struggling with decoding actually hear the words correctly. The listening center will help build fluency, comprehension, and oral listening skills. My students will use the HP CD-Rs to write and create their own audiobooks which they will share with their classmates. My students will understand the importance of annotation, pace of reading, and speaking clearly with the creation of their own audiobooks. Lastly, a listening center would provide a wonderful entertaining reading and listening outlet for all my students, especially my students who learn from listening.

Please prick up their ears to a listening center, that will keep these bright, enthusiastic and keen learners engaged to the power or words.

Just remember your favorite book and how much better it would have been, if only you could hear the characters frustration or visualize the faraway places only books can take us. With your donation my students could believe they are walking along side of Charlotte in Charlotte's Web or they just found the winning ticket in Charlie in the Chocolate Factory.
