My Students

Every day when I walk into school, I am impressed and enriched by the wealth of energy, intelligence and brilliance of my students. They are a diverse group of teenagers, each with a unique set of gifts and challenges.

The diversity to which I refer covers their socio-economic class, their ethnicities, and their academic proclivities.

But they all bring their youthful hopes and dreams to school every day, as well as their anxieties and needs. I can't imagine a better place to work.

My Project

Meaningful and specific feedback makes all the difference in the world when students are trying to make sense of mathematical ideas. Each of my classes has 34 students, and each period lasts 45 minutes - it's not a lot of time to look at every child's work.

When I can see each student's work easily and quickly, I am able to address their misconceptions, acknowledge their understandings, and congratulate their progress while they are sitting right in front of me.

The KleenSlate whiteboards requested in this project will give me the ability and flexibility to better see the work my students are doing, and respond to it in the moment.
