My Students

I have a wonderful group of students who work so hard to learn what comes easily to others. All of my students have challenges that affect both their learning and their daily lives. Each student is unique and so special to me. They are "my kids"!

My students enjoy coming to school and work so hard every day.

Like their typical peers, my students practice reading and math skills. We engage in science activities like our yearly pumpkin patch. We learn about our community, our nation and other cultures. We work with technology because most kids think of it as a treat. But the most important skills are taught through daily interactions: communication skills, self-help skills, social skills, self regulation and sensory integration.

My Project

Our class is full of activities throughout the day. At any given time, you will see my students working on different tasks based on specific needs. Some students will be practicing reading skills in a group, while others are working on various skills with task boxes and still others are working on the computers or iPads.

My class is always busy!

There are times when each of my students is working on something different, which can get rather noisy. That's where this project comes in! I need for each student to have a set of durable headphones to help keep the noise level down. Some parents sent in headphones, but not all did. Some of those headphones have held up to the kid test, while others broke pretty quickly. It is not hygienic to have students share headphones and having the speaker on the device on is very distracting.
