We teach in a co-teaching classroom of third graders. Our combined classroom consists of 42 students. Twenty-one of the 42 students are English Language Learners from around the world. Of these 42 students, 21 of them receive free or reduced rate lunch.
They are energetic learners who never cease to amaze us with their desire to learn about new things and their creativity in the ways they go about learning.
It is our hope to provide our students with the tools they need to remove any learning barriers and that they may to continue their desire to learn in increasingly fun and creative ways.
My Project
Our students had the following they wanted to tell you...During our class meeting, we decided we need more headphones in our classroom. Many of us either don’t have headphones, or they no longer work. Due to this, we often have to go to other classrooms to get headphones to borrow. We would like for every student to have their own set of headphones to use.
Many times during the day, our teachers assign work for us to do on our Chromebooks.
A lot of the things we have to work on, have sound associated with them. We take online assessments that can read directions, our iReady Math has videos with sound, and we can listen to stories with Tumblebooks and Epic. Noise from our Chromebooks can be distracting to our teachers and other students. If we all had headphones, we would be able to focus on our own work without these distractions.
We appreciate you taking the time to read our letter and hope you will consider our request to have more headphones in our classroom. Mrs. Wright and Mrs. Letchworth really like the ones we are requesting. We already have several pairs of these and they work really well for what we need!
