My students crave opportunities to use technology in the classroom. Technology is limited at our school. Once a week, students have a 30 minute period in the school computer lab. In our classroom we have access to 4 Chromebooks to be shared by all. Many students in my classroom come from households where computers and internet access are not available. Yet in today's world, developing these skills are necessary for future success. Having additional Chromebooks in the classroom would give my students more opportunities to strengthen their word processing, presentation, and researching skills...lifelong skills that they can take with them when they leave my classroom at the end of the school year. It would be a big deal for my students if they had the ability to access information from the internet anytime they needed to. However, my ultimate goal is to simply make my classroom a place where accessing information on the internet is as second nature as opening a text book. To then take that information and be able to share it with their classmates and others in our school would make their learning even more meaningful.
