This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work with students who come from various backgrounds, many of whom are English Language Learners from low-income families who have the drive to learn. These students are friendly and love to be engaged and immersed in the English language and our school culture.

Many of my students have limited access to opportunities due to family structure and responsibilities.

Many of them are beginning a new life in this country and deal with isolation, transition, and adjustment to the expectations of a new culture and school system.

My Project

I have been teaching language and literature in high school. Over the years, I observed that student learning among teenagers is more long-lasting when they are engaged in tasks and when they connect the literary work to their own stories. Therefore, I would like them to have necessary technical equipment for podcasting, film recording, live speech presentations and vlogging.

We will be utilizing these equipment during our units such as immigration and race dialogues.

Students will write their personal experiences and stories as a response to literature we study. They will finalize their project by creating a multimedia piece (a short film, podcast, etc.) to share their lives with audience.
