Ms. Maloney from Bowie MD is requesting instructional technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Together, 125 students and I make magic happen every day. My students are tech savvy, easily navigating through a maze of the Google platform and other sites to create short films, flipgrids, prezis, word walls, and our online textbook resources.
Since they are readying themselves for high school, my eighth grade students have access to Chromebooks at school at a one-to-one ratio.
The Chromebook is vital to instruction as it is the basis of accessing paperless assignments, online textbook audio files and resources, as well as an opportunity to draft and revise their essays.
Students do more than just individual work; they partner in pairs, triads and groups. When tasked with viewing a video or listening to an audio file, the noise level multiplies to the point of distraction. We have computers, but we need headphones!
With these materials, all my students will become self-guided learners. Our district's curriculum requires that students analyze complex text, in both print and video format. Rather than playing a single instructional video for the class on my computer, with these headsets, students can listen to multiple video texts and make annotations at their own pace.
As an arts integration school, students learn with visual art, drama, dance, music and media.
Headsets with the microphone feature will enable our community to produce podcasts and record film and videos efficiently.
The addition of headsets will maximize the use of student Chromebooks and put learning in the hands of students.
