My Students

My students are a prime example of the melting pot that is our country, as they represent over 30 different countries in my three classes in Houston, Texas! Just like the great variety in our backgrounds, my students come to 6th grade with a great variety in their ability to read independently. Some of my students are reading by themselves at an 8th-grade level while others struggle through 3rd-grade passages.

My students are enthusiastic and passionate about their learning and crave the opportunity to discover new things for themselves.

With all of the new challenges we have faced together these past 2 school years, I am always seeking new fun and engaging ways to keep them passionate about their studies!

My Project

Moving is an important part of brain stimulation for all people, not just students. Yet, in most educational setting we ask students to sit for up to 8 hours a day. More and more campuses are doing away with recess, and gym stating there simply isn't time due to all of the academic pressures from the states for students to perform well on standardized tests. I Strongly believe that allowing my students to have more movement in my classroom will allow their brains to engage more and increase their overall learning as well.

Please help me give my students the resources to exercise their bodies along with their brains, as they are noticeably more engaged in my lessons when they are able to incorporate movement into their day.
