Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is a dual-language school in the Bronx, in which students are taught in English and Spanish. I have an amazing group this year. My first graders are full of excitement and curiosity. We have had a great start of the school year and I know we will continue to have a year full of excitement, learning, growth, and adventures as we continue their journey of learning to speak, read and write in two languages.
My students are extremely hardworking as they are not just learning in one language but in two.
I know they will continue to show their potential and eagerness to learn more about the world around them in my classroom. I want to give them all the necessities and tools to make it easier for them to achieve their hopes and goals. They are our future and we should most definitely support in every way possible.
My Project
I have students that often complain that they are not able to bring any snacks or lunch from home. The snacks I am requesting can and have gone a long way when it comes to my students. When given juice, chips, pretzels and other snacks throughout the day their eyes literally light up and I can definitely see a change in their attitude towards school. Their overall mood completely changes.
When children are no longer hungry, they are able to focus more and therefore perform much better.
These snacks will be used throughout the day for all of my students. I have no doubt that my students and I will greatly appreciate these snacks. My students will be able to take their minds off their stomach and back to learning.
