My third graders are a hard-working group! They are enthusiastic learners and work to make their community a better place. Students in my classroom come from diverse backgrounds and several students receive free and reduced price lunch. My classroom is an inclusive environment, that includes students with disabilities.
Students in my class are compassionate and work hard to make our classroom a place where all can learn and grow.
Students in my classroom embrace their differences and learn from one another. "There is no better place to create a caring community than our schools - the heart of our future." - Patricia Gandara
My Project
Many students in my classroom come to school hungry because they are not getting enough at home. My students are active and growing rapidly in third grade. Even with free and reduced price breakfast and lunch, they need daily snacks to help them stay engaged in learning. Donations will help to fill students' bellies with graham crackers, goldfish crackers, pretzels, and more.
Daily community snack helps to create cohesiveness in the classroom and keeps students from worrying about their basic needs.
Daily snack feeds not only their stomachs, but their physiological needs and their needs for safety, love, and belonging. As Allen E Beck said, "In teaching, you can't do the Bloom stuff until you take care of the Maslow stuff."
