My Students

My students are young, innocent, enthusiastic, and vibrant. They come to school with expectations for excitement and engagement. My students demonstrate strength, perseverance, and commitment at six and seven that I have not seen in many. Ninety-nine percent of the student population at the school is low-income in an urban environment, and 78% of the school population are English Language Learners.

My twenty-three first grade students deserve to have doors opened for them, experiences presented to them, and tools to success provided for them.

These students deserve to have the best education with no "if, ands, or buts" due to the environment that they live in. My classroom is full of minds that can be agents for change in our world. We are very observant and notice all of the things in the world around us! Our classroom pantry has run low on snacks and we would love your help to refuel!

My Project

In the past with the help of Donors Choose, I have bene able to provide snacks for my twenty-three wonderful first graders. Students have the opportunity to eat snack every morning, and I am typically feeding at least eighteen of my students. With the generosity of family and friends, I have been able to sustain 'Miss Pearson's Pantry' a staple part of our classroom, and continue feeding my students. However, our classroom is running low on snacks and the time has come again that we are in need of healthy treats like fruit snacks, goldfish, graham crackers to fuel student brains throughout the morning.

No child should have to worry about the rumbling in their stomach more than the content they are learning.

I can say through experience that being able to feed children daily makes a difference in my classroom. My students have better attention spans, higher concentration, and are happier to be in our classroom. I would love your help in continuing to make sure that my students thrive in all ways possible.
