Healthy Snacks For Hungry Hikers!

Help me give my students fruit snacks, fruit roll-ups, goldfish crackers and granola bars, so that they can have a snack on our Forest Days trips!

My Students

As 1st grade teachers, we have started a program called First Grade Forest Days. One day each month we venture outside and spend time in the nearby forest. The program has been fantastic and we want it to continue.

We live in a beautiful forested area, yet many of our students don't get the opportunity to explore the nearby woods.

Our students are eager learners who enjoy getting outside the classroom. The parents of our students have been very supportive in helping with the program. We are looking for materials to continue our program for the upcoming school year.

My Project

Each month our students venture out into the nearby woods to spend the day learning outside. They make real world connections and observations as they spend time in nature. They take along a Field Kit containing a magnify glass, thermometer, journal, markers and a pencils that they can record their observations. This is a fabulous opportunity for them to think and reason like a scientist and a mathematician.

These snacks will give them an energy break during their outdoor adventure.

Our hope is that our program will create a sense of urgency for learning and foster the growth of self motivation. We hope that our students learn to appreciate nature, after spending more time outdoors.
