Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students thirst for knowledge and wisdom but often lack the resources to quench their thirst.
We are a business-themed public high school located in the heart of Queens, NY, the most culturally and ethnically diverse neighborhood in the world.
The children who enter my classroom come from all over NYC. As such, they carry with them a wealth of knowledge that contributes to a dynamic classroom. However, many of my students also come from economically disadvantaged homes. Therefore, many times, resources, basic supplies and equipment are scarce.
My Project
Unfortunately, we live in a world where, oftentimes, a child's most basic needs are not met. The need for a healthy snack, oftentimes, makes it very difficult for a child to remain focused on an academic task, while in school or at home. Please help me keep my students nourished and focused, throughout the school day and in the evenings, at home. With your help, my students will have snacks to keep them nourished. A healthy brain and a healthy body will help my scholars succeed. Keeping focused in school is hard enough, without the added burden of hunger. Your support is vital.
