The snacks and hydration supplies from this project have become a quiet but powerful part of our daily routine. Students are able to grab something when they need it and stay present during lessons, discussions, and writing time. It has made a real difference, especially during longer periods when hunger or fatigue can quickly pull attention away from learning.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the supplies, their reaction said everything—relief, gratitude, and genuine appreciation. Many of them shared how meaningful it was to know someone cared enough to support them in such a practical way. Having access to snacks and water has helped students feel more comfortable, more settled, and better able to engage without distraction or embarrassment.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, these resources will continue to support focused reading, thoughtful discussion, and sustained writing. These materials didn't just sit on a shelf—they were put to work immediately. Students used them during close readings, small-group discussions, and writing workshops, and I watched confidence grow in real time. There was a moment where a usually quiet student volunteered to read their thinking aloud, and the room actually listened. That moment exists because you believed in this project.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, my students were genuinely excited. They noticed right away that someone beyond our classroom cared enough to support their learning, and that mattered. It changed the tone of the room—there was more focus, more curiosity, and a sense that what we're doing here is worth investing in. That feeling doesn't fade quickly.\r\n\r\nNext, we're building on this momentum by using these resources to deepen analysis, strengthen writing, and push students to trust their voices a little more each day. While we have not yet used the materials, the students are incredibly excited and motivated knowing that we will be fully equipped for the 2026 soccer season. Seeing the new soccer balls, training pinnies, equipment bag, and training gear has created a strong sense of anticipation and pride in the program.\r\n\r\nWhen the players first learned about the equipment, their reaction was immediate enthusiasm. Many of our students have never had access to brand-new, team-wide gear, and knowing that everyone will be properly equipped made them feel supported and valued. The addition of disposable ice packs also reassured students that their safety, health, and recovery are a priority throughout the season.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead to the 2026 season, these resources will allow us to run organized, high-quality practices with enough equipment for all players to participate fully. The training pinnies and new soccer balls will help us implement structured drills and game-like scenarios, while the equipment bag will keep practices and game days efficient and organized. Most importantly, these materials will help us focus on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship in a safe and professional environment.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our students and our program. My students especially use these resources at the beginning or end of class. It especially brings them happiness and raises their overall mood. For example, one of my students came into class in the morning, and once they saw the snacks, they were extremely grateful for them as they didn't have any breakfast that morning. When they first saw these snacks, they were shocked that they were there, but they were extremely grateful to have them. I gave them that little boost of energy that all of us need sometimes. My students love having the option to have a snack throughout the class, and it brings them a sense of comfort. My next step for my students on a current classroom lesson is to start a new unit. This new unit that we are starting is all about commercial activities, involving specifically literature and culture, and an overall connection in the world. The treadmills provide students with a healthy outlet to manage stress, anxiety, and restlessness, especially during challenging academic periods. Many students feel more comfortable talking while walking, allowing sessions to feel more relaxed and natural. This movement helps them open up, process emotions, and engage more actively in counseling activities.\r\n\r\nThe treadmills have also supported students who struggle with focus or who benefit from sensory input. A brief walk before or during a session helps them regulate their energy, calm their minds, and improve readiness to participate in problem-solving or goal-setting conversations.\r\n\r\nFor the office environment, the treadmills create a welcoming, wellness-focused atmosphere. They encourage healthy habits, promote movement, and show students that the counseling space is a place that prioritizes both mental and physical well-being. The vibrating plate has become a popular part of our wellness space — students use it before or after class and during counseling sessions to release tension, improve focus, and re-energize. It has been especially helpful for students who struggle with attention or anxiety, allowing them to calm their bodies and minds before returning to their academic work.\r\n\r\nThe day the materials arrived, our students were filled with excitement and curiosity. Many had never seen or used a vibrating plate before, and their reactions were priceless — laughter, smiles, and amazement filled the room as they experienced it for the first time. The healthy snacks have also brought a wave of positivity. Students often stop by to grab something nutritious, and it's been heartwarming to see them choose healthier options that keep them fueled and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, we plan to continue integrating the vibrating plate and healthy snacks into our daily wellness and counseling routines. We are creating \"wellness breaks\" where students can stretch, refocus, and grab a snack to reset their energy and mindset. This was to give students time to de-stress by working on engaging activities that allowed them to collaborate with their peers and to take a break from doing work on the computers. Most of my \"Fun Fridays\" consisted of having the students play board games, specifically The Game of Life. \r\nWhen I made playing The Game of Life an assignment, I learned that a lot of the students have never played the game before. It was fun to see the students engaging with new peers. A class that I teach is Career and Financial Management and we go over Personal Finance as part of the curriculum. Playing The Game of Life was also a great supplement for them to go through the different stages of life after high school, for example, college and getting a job. \r\nAs part of the school year, we also hosted three in-school internships. These internships help prepare students for a real internship they may later partake outside of the school. Most of these students go through the school day skipping lunch and having snacks available for them is always helpful. \r\nWe hope to continue with these traditions every school year. As teachers, we appreciate anything that will support our students to learn and come to school. Our students also appreciate the effort we put in to make school work \"fun\" and engaging.","fullyFundedDate":1740148132921,"projectUrl":"project/positive-mental-health-project/8914731/","projectTitle":"Positive Mental Health Project","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Chan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9823411"},{"teacherId":9818178,"projectId":8919770,"letterContent":"We are so grateful for your incredibly generous donation of snacks, cleaning supplies, and a bean bag chair through DonorsChoose!
