Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I truly believe my terrific, inquisitive 3rd graders are capable of reaching their academic goals. I love seeing their faces light up as they learn new math, science, and literacy skills.
My students live in and attend school in a high poverty area and many come from single parent families who can't afford life essentials such as food, clothing, and shelter.
At our school, 100% of the students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Despite the challenges of poverty, they arrive at school eager and ready for the day's lessons and projects.
My Project
My awesome group of third graders love learning and come to school every day ready and eager to learn new skills. Our school observes a modified year round schedule, so my students’ day starts early and ends later than other schools.
The healthy snack bars, pretzels, fruit snacks,and nuts will be given to the students throughout the day to help them continue to eat healthy snacks at school, and take snacks home to maintain a balanced diet.
My students are learning about healthy eating with our health unit and they stated that they would like to request healthy snacks to eat during the day to quiet their grumbling tummies. They have come to the realization that eating a balanced diet helps them not only with their school work, but eating healthy plays a part in their behavior and mannerisms.
The snacks will help ensure that my students eat healthy as they continue to enhance their learning styles. My students will be empowered with healthy eating habits and the energy to continue learning throughout school day. Please help my students’ growing minds and bodies fuel up for health and learning.
