This year, I want to ensure that all of my students needs are met.
I currently teach 26 amazing 3rd-grade students in a low-income/ high poverty school who will one day be the leaders in our community.
These students are faced with many different challenges, which can alter their future. I want to go beyond just academics and make sure they are provided with snacks to eat during school and to bring home after school so that can focus and not have to worry about being hungry.
My Project
I have a few students that are not prepared to come to school. Many students come to school hungry, because they didn't have anything to eat before school, as well as they need some sort of snack to take home because they have very minimal food to eat at home.
Many students struggle to focus on their school work because they aren't having all of their needs met.
Each day we eat a healthy snack during our math lesson and I send home snacks with a few students and their siblings. I also send home snacks for the these students each weekend. This project will help my students to stay focused because they don't have to worry about the things they can not change. My goal is to have my students' needs met so they are happy and fulfilled, not just in my classroom but also at home.
