This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
95% of the students qualify for free or reduced-price meals. We have a student population of 1,200 students, which consists of 80% African Americans, 10% Caucasian, and approximately 10% of the population is from other countries.
My students need nutritional snacks, cleaning supplies, gloves, and a broom/dustpan for our classroom.
Many of my students don't get enough to eat at home, it is important for them to have enough energy to function at school. In addition to the school breakfast and lunches, having healthy snacks for them throughout the day helps them keep up the energy. Having the cleaning supplies lets them take ownership in keeping our classroom clean for us all.
My Project
My students come to school in need extra nutritional support. Having these items allows them to supplement what our school offers them for breakfast and lunch. Having extra snacks throughout the day allows my students to keep up their strength to complete classroom work and projects.
The cleaning supplies give them a sense of accomplishment, cleaning the tables and counters with the wipes and a broom with dustpan to help keep the floor clean in our classroom.
