My Students

My students are in need of physical education equipment to help them with their physical and mental health.

I am a 7th grade teacher in Utah.

My students who exercise regularly tend to do so because it gives them an enormous sense of well-being. They feel more energetic throughout the day, sleep better at night, have sharper memories, and feel more relaxed and positive about themselves and their lives.

I'm looking to expand games and activities in PE to keep our students healthy both physically and mentally in the classroom and at home.

The potential for heightened mental health challenges confronting our school and others is evident in new Gallup Panel polling of parents with school-aged children conducted via the web in May of 2020. Nearly three in 10 (29%) say their child is "already experiencing harm" to their emotional or mental health because of social distancing and closures.

My Project

My exercise and sports equipment will be used to combat mental illness by empowering students to learn the value of exercise and the positive effect it can have upon their minds and bodies.

Exercise is a powerful medicine for many common mental health challenges.

Regular exercise can have a profoundly positive impact on depression, anxiety, and ADHD.

The materials will be used to create more opportunities for enjoyment, fun, laughter, and skill development amount my students. It will also be a great opportunity make new friends, develop self confidence in learning a new sport, game, or achieving a new fitness level.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
