This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Middle school is hard. Growing up is hard. For the kids at our school, sometimes access to critical personal hygiene supplies is hard. Our students lead the way by stocking and staffing a food pantry on our campus in partnership with the local food bank, and it's been of great benefit to the students and families our school serves, but the needs that sometimes go unmet are for hygienic supplies.

Kids shouldn't have to worry that a toothbrush may be too expensive, and they shouldn't feel the need to scrimp on shampoo.

By keeping hygiene products in our school pantry, we can offer our kids deodorant, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes and other necessities, and the kids who work in the pantry see the impact of helping their peers. These items will help students maintain the good physical health benefits of keeping clean while helping their families in a small but really meaningful way.
