Our elementary is located in San Francisco, CA. The student body reflects the cultural diversity of San Francisco. The overarching goal is that our have increased access to high-quality learning opportunities offered by peer interactions, parents, and school staff. With up to 300 K to 5th-grade students of varied demographics and below the poverty level and socioeconomic status, our population includes special needs, medically dependent, students with behavioral / mental needs, ACE (adverse childhood experiences students), and general education. As an educator, my goal is to build positive, trusting, and respectful relationships with my students so that they could be healthy and safe. But most importantly, ready to learn.
My Project
The resources that I am requesting for this project are snacks (some are gluten free) such as popcorn, pretzels, granola bars, fruit and cereal bars, water, and etc.
Many of my students come to school complaining of not eating and not knowing where and when their next meal will come from.
By having these donations for the basic life essentials-- such as food and drink, they will be able to feel more satiated and comforted. In turn will help them better focus while in school to become life long learners.
Lastly, this donation will be able to help my students, should they not have the means for a meal or snack, lack of access, or etc. By having these items it will help them begin or get through their day. These basic essentials will also help provide them with the proper nutrition and energy that they need to build healthy bodies and minds.
