My Students

It is a true gift to have the opportunity to work with such wonderful students each day. It is my goal as the school nurse to keep everyone at school healthy and well-cared for while they are here on campus. We have a very diverse school, with children from many backgrounds, countries, and ethnicities. We also offer public education to children that are physically and/or cognitively impaired but are still able to come to school. We have a fantastic school aimed at serving our students to the best of our ability.

My Project

As you may know, school nurses are very limited in what they are able to offer students to comfort them should an injury occur. That is why I am starting this DonorsChoose.org project to request an ICE MAKER! It is pretty amazing the relief a child can feel simply by applying an ice pack to whatever it is that is bothering them.

Our school also has specialized classrooms and teachers for our students that need a little extra attention due to disabilities.

It can be difficult to explain to cognitively impaired children what to do with an oral thermometer. Having ear thermometers that do not require the child to have to do anything to get a temperature reading would be helpful for me as the nurse, the child, and the teacher. Teachers would also be able to keep these in their portable classrooms!
