My students have special needs and special abilities. They come from a community where they all receive free lunch and breakfast. Some can barely afford school supplies. I did what I could this year in buying things that could get them where they need to be, but it isn't nearly enough. With children who are two to three grade levels behind, I'm left to get them to a point of growth. Supplying my students with classroom resources will give them the hope they need to realize that success is at their finger tips.
All students have a promising future, but that future needs to be ignited by their inner potential.
I want to set my students up for success, and that setup involves getting them the resources they need to be challenged, and pushed to the next level. Each student is different, but sometimes we can expect them to fall into a cookie cutter mold that is far beyond realistic. As any passionate teacher would, I want the best for my students.
Cleaning items for our classroom will make all of the difference in a school where germs are easily spread. I believe that fostering my students with the resources needed to minimize the spreading of germs is important not only to their bodies and immune systems, but to their education. Simple things like toilet paper in student bathrooms, and having hand sanitizer readily available when the common cold is going around are vital to our students' health and wellness. Attendance is often effected by sicknesses that can be avoided if the resources for a clean classroom environment are provided.
I am certain that these supplies will foster an environment where students will see cleanliness as a priority.
Sometimes our student bathrooms go without soap, toilet paper and paper towels. These items are basic necessities that students need to take care of their personal hygiene. Students will also use soap after toileting, and paper towels to dry their hands; while opening the door to prevent contamination. Lysol wipes will be used daily as a way to prevent any germs from lingering on classroom surfaces. Having tissues available when someone sneezes, or simply needs to wipe their face is ideal for our classroom.
