Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The mission at our school is to inspire and prepare all students to create their own success in and beyond school. I love my students because they are open-minded. We are an International Baccalaureate School and the model encourages and guides students to approach unfamiliar situations and uncertainty with courage and have the independence of spirit to explore new roles, ideas, and strategies. Students must take risks so they may try new reading strategies so they may grow as readers, writers, mathematicians, and scientists. Our classroom needs comfortable, flexible seating arrangements to maximize learning.

My Project

My students are beautiful, capable, and caring. The pandemic has been hard on them in many ways. I am seeing elevated levels of stress, anxiety and behavior issues. Calming fluorescent light covers will help reduce stress and improve productivity. To help support and encourage learning I reward and motivate student by providing them with healthy snacks, such as Welch's Fruit Snacks or Tropicana Juice. On Friday, children can select a special treat to reward students for good behavior and effort. We also care for students by providing them with masks and keeping surfaces clean. Students will be motivated to keep masks on when they have clean colorful WeCare Kids tie dye masks.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
