Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My ninth-grade Health Science and College and Career Readiness students are an energetic group of teens who love to socialize and have fun.

They come from a tough and gritty neighborhood in Northern California.

Our student body is a melting pot of cultures: African-American, Asian, Filipino, and Latino. Many of our students live in poverty and have extremely difficult living situations.

Please contribute to our classroom project to help these students receive the very best education possible! They deserve it.

My Project

Due to COVID guidelines, we are required to leave doors and windows open for proper ventilation. Some students come to class without proper clothing for the cold. Having extra gloves, warm socks, jackets, long sleeve shirts, and metallic markers to distinguish items will help overcome this hurdle to learning. A couple students, who during COVID remote learning, began playing the guitar with YouTube lessons requested guitar picks and guitar strings. Music is good for mental health. A goal of mine is to help those in need.

Absenteeism is a big hurdle to success in school.

It’s important to keep students warm, especially with our current pandemic ventilation requirements. When students are healthy, they miss less school. It’s difficult to concentrate when you are feeling cold. Gloves, warm socks, jackets, and long sleeve shirts will help students come to school prepared for the cold weather and prevent illness. Some students have taken up music to help their mental awareness. Let's help students to feel respected in the classroom and preserve their mental health.

Please support our class project, so we can increase student attendance and focus in our classroom and have respected and happy learners.
