Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in an urban school district. I teach Math and Sciences at the different blocks- two sciences and one math class. I love my students because they demonstrate an atmosphere of diversity who are willing to explore new things.
Due to the diverse nature of my students, many of them struggle with academic work.
Some of these students walk to school hungry.
My Project
As the season of cold is approaching coupled with the present pandemic, students need to keep safe and healthy. There is a list of basic items that students need in order to be safe and healthy. Some students have these basic needs. For example, not all students can afford to come to school with a mask or replace their mask every day or when it is dirty. Due to their inability to replace face masks, some students re-use their masks indefinitely. hand soap and paper towels need to be handy so that students can easily watch their hands when deemed fit.
Providing students with facemask, hand soap, paper towels, and other basic needs will not only make them be safe and healthy but will encourage healthy living habits that will make students feel comfortable to learn within their environment.
