Headsets for English Language Learners

My Project

We have 90 English Language Learner (ELL) students and our population is growing quickly. For these students to learn English, we use a curriculum online that involves many listening and speaking activities. We especially emphasized practicing speaking in English through voice recording activities with our online curriculum and the Flip Grid app. Oral language tends to be most challenging for our beginner ELL students.

Our students come from a wide array of backgrounds both educationally, culturally, and ethnically.

We have students from Brazil, Colombia, Honduras, Myanmar, Haiti, India, and the list goes on. Myself and my ELL teacher counterpart want to give our students the best. As of now, for the past two years, we have had headphones that break easily and have not had enough for each student in a class. When it comes time for testing our students' language development yearly with the ACCESS test, it is challenging to find even one headset that has a working microphone. You can help solve this problem! We want to show students that we value their learning. Having headsets in our classrooms that are functioning and not falling apart shows our students this importance, as they use headsets daily.
