Heads Up And Listen

My students need 2 adapted CD players and texture switches, 4 headphones, a study carrel, audio splitters, and a Sound-Eaze CD.

I have 6 students in my room ranging in age of 12-15. All students have severe/profound multiple disabilities and require the use of wheelchairs for their primary positioning. The students are all non-verbal.

Many of my students have poor head control due to their disabilities. Many also have poor fine motor abilities limiting their ability to use conventional CD players.

Many of my students are very motivated when listening to music. They seem to hold their heads up better and for longer periods. Having personal CD players that are switch accessible will empower them to be more independent, increasing their self-esteem. The study carrels allow for more attention to task while the audio splitters will allow cooperation between students.

Your help will make it possible for my students to be more like same age peers in that they can listen to their favorite music on a personal CD player that they can operate by themselves.
