Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from many different backgrounds. They are a diverse group and are eager to succeed. My students also possess many different and diverse learning styles. I am a Special Education teacher in a lower socio-economic school district. The students in my school all receive free lunch. We are a Title 1 school.
I love that no matter what challenges by student's face on the inside they come to school each day prepared and motivated to do their best
The group of students that will use these headphones have a variety of abilities and characteristics. We need these headphones for a better learning environment for all. My students are up for the challenge of reading when they are equipped with tools to listen to words and record themselves reading.
My Project
We have individual Chromebooks for each of our students. But many are having to supply their own headsets. Most students try to use earbuds but they are too big for their little ears.
Individual headsets with microphones will ensure that each student can get the most benefit from the online computer activities that support their learning.
We have a great online phonics program in place to supplement what the students are learning in class. Headsets would help them hear the phonemes clearer and assist their learning.
Students also take online assessments. In some cases, they are required to record themselves reading a passage. The microphone on the headset will help them record better.
Many of my students are English Language Learners.
Having a microphone to speak into is so important for these students. Many of their learning programs allow them to record themselves speaking. These headphones with a microphone are perfect to support my students who are learning a new language.
