Headphones to Provide Privacy While Filling the Literacy Gap!
Help me give my students durable headphones that will allow them to work on independent assignments that target their individual academic needs without embarrassment and shame.
My students hailing from small rural South Carolina town surrounded by farms, are a testament to resilience. Our elementary school, catering to around 450 students from grades 3 to 5, is a beacon of hope in the face of adversity. Despite the significant challenges of poverty, crime, and drugs that have touched their lives, these students view school not just as a place to learn academics, but as a sanctuary of love, food, understanding, and hope.
As a Title I school, one hundred percent (100%) of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Our school district, like many others, has been grappling with the financial fallout of the district consolidation and the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite these challenges, the district strives to provide all essential classroom supplies. However, the more expensive materials often fall victim to budget cuts, leaving our students in need.
This project focuses on providing students with the essential items needed to use technology to differentiate and adapt instruction to each student's needs, using the best digital programs provided by the school district and others (teachers, donors, etc.). My 5th-grade students need good and durable earphones. We aim to provide 40 pairs of earphones, ensuring each student has the necessary tools to work on independent assignments that target their academic needs without embarrassment and shame.
