My students need quality headphones to better utilize the online reading and math programs that we use at our school.

My Students

Our school is an extremely rural school located in Eastern Kentucky. We are the smallest county in the state and our school is houses grades K-12 with approx 375 student. Our school has a free and reduced lunch rate of approximately 80% and most of our students live in a very low socioeconomic status. We are the only school for the entire county.

Living in such a rural area, a large majority of our homes do not have internet access, so we provide the students with as much access to technology as possible during the school day.

My Project

We have made a conscience effort to implement technology into every classroom at our school. All students in grades K-12 have access to Chromebooks in their classrooms. We use Lexia Reading and Symphony Math daily to supplement our reading and math curriculum - these are online programs that help our teachers and students identify foundational gaps in a students learning sequence so they can provide intervention. These programs are student directed and require the use of headphones along with the Chromebooks in order for students to hear the instructions and directions. High quality headphones will enhance the student's ability to get the most from their computer time on these programs.
