Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Help open the world of reading to eager young minds! My students want to understand that reading impacts around the world. Our resources are limited and this leaves my students at a disadvantage when developing their understanding of the reading world around them.
My students are sixth grade, English Language Learners.
Their curiosity and hunger for knowledge is tremendous. The majority of my students learn best through hands-on applications of the curriculum standards. They are social, enjoy working in group activities and are excited about reading to facilitate their learning. They attend an inner city school where they face real life challenges in the community.
My Project
We have a 1 to 1 ratio of Chromebooks in our classroom and we use the Chromebooks for several school programs for both math and reading. Often time students do not bring in earbuds or headphones at all or they break the ones they have brought it.
If our class had a set of earphones each child would be able to use the Chromebooks effectively during class time.
I would also be able to assign lessons online through google classroom for each student to complete.
Headphones will also allow ELD students and students with learning disabilities to have passages read to them.
