My Students

My students are in 9th - 11th grade and are with me for pre-algebra or algebra 1. About 80% are from low-income families and almost 30% are English Learners.

I provide them with self-paced lessons a couple of times a week on their computers.

Some of them are strong math students and benefit when I provide self paced lessons, because they get time for more content. Others struggle with math and are able to slow down the lesson to a pace where they are successful.

My Project

The school has provided Chromebooks for each student this year. This has enabled me to provide self paced lessons for students by recording videos of notes and allowing students to go at their own pace. These lessons maximize my time with my students and allow me to provide each student with the support they need.

Imagine being in a math class without being able to hear the teacher.

Some of my students don't have headphones, and need them to fully access the lesson. The in-ear ones are cheaper, but not sanitary to share. The over-ear headphones you help provide will mean that no student misses a lesson because they don't have headphones. Forty headphones will allow me to share with the other algebra and pre-algebra teacher as well!
