Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hard working and courteous. Made up of several ethnic backgrounds, the school is located in a community that is very family oriented.

Being a school in a Title I district, as well as having students whose families are in the rebuilding phase after Hurricane Harvey, has been quite a challenge.

Many students are still displaced from their homes and have not only limited resources, but limited access to technology. Many students have lost their personal items that cannot be replaced.

My Project

The journey after Hurricane Harvey as been a slow, but healing one. Thanks to the assistance of DonorsChoose.org, I was able to bring back some of the lost or damaged technology, making it a very, sweet reward when starting back at school for my students. Now headphones will be our cherry on top of that sweet sundae.

My students need headphones to be able to individually receive necessary interventions for RTI, Special Education and English Language Learners.

Student will be able to build vocabulary while having books read to them as they follow along. They will also be able to concentrate on individual activities while on district programs.
