Help me give my students the ability to access important online resources, activities, and learning opportunities without distracting others. By having a class set of quality headphones, my students will be able to access necessary learning opportunities.
Welcome to Mrs. Keller's amazing 5th-grade class. I am so privileged to converse, interact, inspire, teach, and learn from this amazing group of kids. My students come to school each and every day eager to learn. As they enter our learning environment, they soon learn that I am a teacher that believes in setting high expectations for all of my students.
Prior to becoming a teacher, I was a social worker.
Due to my background, I strongly believe that despite any challenges my students may face outside of the classroom, they have the power to overcome such challenges and be the best person they can be. With this belief, they soon realize that they can achieve and be successful, whether that means understanding fractions or writing a well-written essay.
My students work hard every day and even though they may not always like it, in the end, they recognize the gains they have made and feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. A former student said to me. "Mrs. Keller, this was my hardest year in school but I learned so much."
My Project
Having a class set of headphones would enable my students, regardless of their economic status, to access important audio learning opportunities.
We currently use a program titled, i-Ready.
My students have access to this program daily and it is developed to interact with students at their current reading and math level. In order for the program to be successful, students listen to a tutorial and complete activities at their level. As they complete the lessons successfully, they progress through the program. The goal is to close learning gaps for our students and provide advanced learning opportunities for others.
In addition, the headphones would also allow my students to access other audio learning programs and inable them to do additional audio research without disturbing others.
Unfortunately, some of my students are not able to afford headphones. Having headphones available for them to use would lessen any burden they may be feeling.
